January Marshall, LPC

January founded Anchored Soul Counseling in October 2022 to expand services in her hometown, while offering a safe, compassionate environment for clients to be seen and heard. January understands that mental distress is not a condition to be “fixed,” but comes alongside each client to guide them in pathways to emotional, relational, and spiritual healing. Though founded as a counseling center utilizing Christian perspectives, January also realizes that every client is on a different spiritual and life journey, and is experienced in working with persons of every walk of life and faith.
January is a Charlottesville native and has over 8 years of experience working with children, teens and adults. She has worked with school-age children to manage behavioral needs, and has extensive experience working with at-risk youth and their families.
January uses a variety of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, art-based therapy, and play therapy based activities with children. Each technique is tailored and used based on indiviual client needs.
January received a Master’s of Arts in Professional Counseling in May 2015, and is a licensed mental health therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
