FAQ’s

Below are some common questions asked about faith-based counseling services.

What is faith-based counseling?

Faith-based Christian counseling approaches problems and offers various solutions from a Biblical worldview, understanding that every individual will face and need to address a number of challenges with compassion, grace, and guidance. Our counseling model incorporates faith-based principles found in Scripture as well as evidence-based professional practices to work towards practical and spiritual healing and solutions.

Why may I need counseling?

Counseling can be beneficial for such areas as: anxiety, grief, depression, marital and other interpersonal conflict, life adjustment concerns, behavioral problems in children and adolescence, victims of abuse/violence, parenting and family struggles. This is not an all-inclusive list.

Will my sessions be confidential?

Yes. Counselors are bound by HIPPA compliance, confidentiality, and ethics. All sessions are confidential, unless certain conditions apply, and these are discussed in the first session and any intake paperwork.

Do I have to be a part of a church to seek counseling in your office?

What can I expect at my first visit?

Depending on the presenting concern, the initial visit will typically consist of a 50 minute to one hour intake interview. In this session, you will be asked questions related to reasons coming to therapy, your presenting symptoms, related difficulties, and a brief overview of family history and current family and personal life. These will be used to come up with treatment plan goals for future sessions.

Good Faith Estimate

In compliance with the No Surprises Act which became effective January 1, 2022, healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their federal rights and protections against “surprise billing.”

The No Surprises Act requires that any healthcare or mental health provider inform you orally and in writing of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider, when a client is uninsured or elects not to use their insurance.

Anchored Soul Counseling, LLC is does not participate with with some insurance plans; therefore, for those plans we would be considered an out-of-network provider (particpating plans are listed above).

Additionally, the No Surprises Act requires that you be provided with a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services.  You will receive a formal Good Faith Estimate of costs for services when you schedule your first appointment if you are paying the full out-of-pocket rate.

As you may anticipate, it is difficult to determine the length of treatment for mental health care. Each client has different needs, and different goals for treatment, and these are discussed and considered when treatment plans are formulated when entering treatment.  Ultimately, each client has a right to decide how long they would like to participate in mental health care. The Good Faith Estimate you will receive will include a detailed fee schedule for the services to be offered by your therapist.

In accordance with the No Surprises Act, if you receive a bill for services, that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate you can dispute the bill.
